The Hypnotherapy Register
UK Hypnotherapy Associations and Organisations

Currently there are 10 registered members of UKCHO (The UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations).

It is true to say that there are many organisations that have chosen not to be registered with UKCHO, and equally many who would not be allowed to be registered due to their standards, ethics or both.

In order to ensure that your therapist is properly trained, qualified, insured and committed we will only allow Hypnotherapists on this register if they are members of one of the following associations, or can prove that their training meet or exceeded the National Occupational Standards.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)

The National Association of Counsellors, Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists (NACHP)

British National Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists (NRAH)

Association for Professional Hypnosis & Psychotherapy (APHP)

The British Institute of Hypnotherapy (BIH)

British Association of Therapeutical Hypnotists (BATH)

The British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis (BSCAH)

The Hypnotherapy Association (HA)

The UK Guild of Hypnotist Examiners (UKGHE)

The Society of Stress Managers (SSM)

The National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists (NRHP)

Schools that meet the National Occupational Standards

Current training courses should be based upon the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Hypnotherapy published in 2002 by Skills for Health, the Government's Sector Skills Council for the UK health industry.
Details can be found
HERE

Currently the only externally verified qualification that meets this is the HPD, the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, therapists with the HPD will be indicated on our register.

By comparison, the HPD is the same level as a Level 4 NVQ, BTEC Professional Diploma, or a university Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE). The National Occupational Standard units have been correlated against the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) by Skills for Health.

Most Hypnotherapists are updating their training to include the HPD, the following schools are the only training providers offering the HPD.
